For over 2,000 years, man has been searching for the final resting place of
Noah's Ark.  Though there have been many attempts, few have been able to fully
explore the one place specifically noted in the Bible: Mount Ararat.  Located in
Eastern Turkey, Agri Dagh or "The Painful Mountain" is the tallest mountain in
the region and lies in the very center of a centuries old, geo-politically
unstable hot spot.  With constant threats of deadly rock slides, hidden
crevasses, and glacial ice falls, the Kurdish Rebel held mountain poses great
risk to any explorer, let alone those performing a thorough scientific
investigation.  

Join director/producer Brent Baum and the FINDING NOAH film crew as
they follow an expedition of intrepid explorers on a perilous trek up to Mt.
Ararat's desolate summit.  There, using state of the art technology and
real-time satellite imagery, this team of archeologists, scientists and
professional mountaineers will begin a grid work of exploration unlike any
before, hoping to finally resolve the age-old question:  did Noah and his Ark

If you like documentaries on Biblical themes or have been curious about the questions surrounding Noah and his Ark, then this would be an interesting film for you to view.  I personally am not a big fan of documentaries but found myself engaged by the technology used to search Mt Ararat for Noah's Ark.  It was not would I would call "fun" but more of an intriguing film to watch.  Find out more online at: http://www.findingnoah.com/

Do you have time to spend driving back and forth and paying an instructor just so you can learn how to play an instrument?  What about if you have children who also want to learn?  Or several family or friends?



I have found a way to make time in my day - right here at home to learn how to play my Guitar and can even have my kiddos use the lessons too!  And it is affordable, can be done in my own home and at my own pace, at a time that

works for me!



It is called Levels for Guitar.  The website has step by step instructions, videos and lessons for new beginners, level 2 beginners and intermediate players.  With an online metronome, online tuner and other great resources along with instructional videos, it is easy to learn at my own pace and at a time that is convenient for me.



I am impressed so far by the instructions and extras that the Levels for Guitar website has for a beginner player that does have some musical background.  I recommend this for homeschool families, adults wanting to learn and those with busy schedules or who don't have easy access to a teacher.

Splash Math Grades 1 through 5 APP Review - From Mommy's Perspective

Splash Math – Grades 1 – 5  app was created with kids and teachers in mind.  They integrate the Common Core Standards with a fun and visual way to practice those crucial math skills. 

Splash math covers over 300 math concepts that range from first grade up through fifth grade.  You must create a parent account to play the app.  Once you have done that, then you can create

individual profiles for up to 2 children.  These profiles are customizable to your child’s level and allow you to track each child’s progress individually.  



As your child plays each game their progress is charted and tracked and in the Parent’s Section you can see the data for that child.  They give you an “Overall Performance” score as well as graphs that break down their scores by topic and show you whether your child’s performance is improving over time.

The games are easy to play and the questions have multiple choice answers. One adorable feature is the cute little hippo that pops up in the corner to let them know if they have answered correctly.  If they have, then he gives them a sweet comment such as, “Well Done” or “Awesome”.  If they answer incorrectly, then the correct answer appears at the bottom of the screen and shows the child why their answer was wrong.  There is also a virtual “scratch pad” where kids can use their finger to write out the problem right on the screen if they can’t do the work in their heads.

This is a very comprehensive app that includes almost every possible math concept your child will encounter in elementary school.  I was impressed with the Parent’s Section and how well they track the performance of each child so that I can know what areas may need some extra attention. 

My main two complaints with this app is that first, you can only create accounts for 3 children with the app. For families like mine with more than two children in elementary school it would be better if it allowed more profiles for families with more than 3 children.  And second, the price is quite expensive. Most families can't pay $99 for a single program.

Overall Splash Math - Grades 1-5 is a great program that helps aid children and parents in learning those critical Common Core Math skills that are oh so important in elementary school.

I must admit that I was skeptical about using the GrowVeg Garden Planning tool for my gardening this year, and often do not utilize organizational programs as I should.  With GrowVeg I was pleasantly surprised by how easy to use it is and how much more organized my gardening has become.

Grow veg has a lot of things going for it, but what I had to decide is whether or not it was truly worth paying $25 a year for. Keep in mind that Grow Veg does offer a free trial for 30 days to try the software out. 

I was able to plan my garden and print out a copy of it and my plant dates for free. But I wasn't sure it worth continuing to pay for.  As I continued to use it this year for the first time I'm finding that in the long run it is a great program and has great potential for the years to come.  It is easy to use, has step by step guides, map and draw features for all shape and size garden areas, lots and lots of tools and features to aid in planning, planting, growning and rotating crops each year.

I must say that I will keep using this program to get the most out of my gardening and keep it easy to do, reminders of when to plant, water and feed as well as finding the best plants for each garden area each year.  From beginner to pro, GrowVeg is a great tool for any gardener regardless of experience level!

Review:

This is an absolutely adorable book.  Isabella learns some tough lessons when she has to "babysit" her puppy Baxter to keep him from bothering her mother.  She has to find creative ways to keep him out of trouble and from making a lot of messes.

At the end of the story, when "mom" goes to find them, she sees them both cleaning up.  What a great way to show little ones that cleaning up can be fun and rewarding.

A short and sweet story that would make a nice addition to a child's ebook collection!  Especially for only $0.99 on Amazon!

My Review:

What an adorable book!  Lobo is such a sweet character.  Children of all ages will enjoy reading the fun story of Lobo and his friends helping out Santa.



With colorful and vibrant illustrations and fun wording, parents will enjoy reading Lobo's Howliday to their little ones over and over throughout the year.



Well written and fun to read.  A must-have book for any Christmas Collection.

While new to the children’s book writing and illustrating scene, C.L. Murphy

Book Tour/Review: An Uncommon Blue by R. C. Hancock ~ YA dystopian at it's finest

My Review:

What an intriguing story.  Bruno learns a hard lesson in this story.  One where people are really just people and not "classes" or "colors."  The true value of humanity, friendship and trust does not depend on wealth or the color of a person's palm.  It is a truly amazing story that this blogger, reviewer recommends for YA readers.

RC (Really Cool) Hancock began his writing career with a story about a dead cat which his second grade teacher thought was brilliant. Convincing others of his literary genius has taken longer than expected, but along the road he has acquired a lovely wife, four entertaining ankle-biters (who, thankfully, look more like their mother), and a degree from BYU in Recreational Management & Youth Leadership (which means he’s really good at having fun.) My Review:

A well written story of character and determination in the face of danger and aggravating peers.  Savi doesn't appreciate being made fun of for her handicap and when forced to team up with the one boy she'd rather not ever have on a team it could mean her life.

The story shows the true struggles of teens and children in our world today who suffer from not only bullying but dealing with difficult situations that many times they may not be prepared for.  I loved each of the characters and how Savi and her friends handled many of the situations they were thrust in and how Savi stuck to her faith in God in spite of disbelief, ridicule and near death experiences.  She showed by example that we should not just believe and trust during good times but through all difficulties life throws at us.  The story kept my interest from beginning to end.  This is a great book for Middle Grade up to Adult readers.

 

About the author:

Gary Rodriguez is president of
LeaderMetrix Inc., a consulting company that specializes in senior-level
executive coaching, organizational development and conflict resolution. He is

Our Review:

What an amazing show!  This was most definitely one of my family's favorite events to date.  My children had never been to a live Circus and were all quite excited to get to go - yes, even my reserved 13 yr old showed some interest in attending!



The first excitement when we arrived was the All Access Pre-Show event - for an entire HOUR before the Circus was to begin - our family could go down on the main floor, visit some of the Circus animals, see and even be a part of different fun Circus events and meet some of the Stars of the Super Circus Heroes performance!

 

It was spectacular and so much fun.  The clowns were it top form, some of the performers gave small shows and even had children from the audience participate in most of the acts!  The animals were so adorable and fun to watch - one of the camels was trying to untie his fellow pony - my girls giggled so hard at the cute camel's antics!



About the All Access Party:

To truly become Super Circus Heroes, families are welcome to come to the arena floor an hour before show time to participate in the interactive super hero training camp at the All Access Pre-show Super Hero Party.



During this special event, the League of Super Circus Heroes will teach participants some of their super human skills such as juggling, wire walking and dance routines. 



Participants will also have an opportunity to meet the performers, take pictures and get autographs. Super heroes in training can try on capes and other spectacular costumes and also get an up-close look at a menagerie of exotic animals including camels and elephants.

It was so much fun!  The kids could hardly take their eyes off the Pre show long enough to actually find our seats!  Not only did we get our 2 hours of Circus Fun, but another entire hour of pre-show amazement!



It is hard to choose just a few favorite moments to share for this review, and since I took over 300 photos!  Yes, and could have taken more if I weren't so caught up in some of the moments I forgot about my camera - I thought it would be best to just add a small slide show of a few of mine and my kiddos favorites of the night . . .

There were adorable little dogs riding on the back of ponies.  Ponies going under the legs of camels.  High flying circus acts, tight rope walkers, strong men, adorable elephants doing amazing feats, acrobatic limber women, humorous clowns, the cage of death with women standing in the middle of motorcycles and so much more.  And the whole night could not have been more perfect thanks to the amazing Ring Master and all the talented stars of the show.

Entertainment for the whole family - any age!

I have not been to a circus since I was about the age of my youngest child, and what I do remember was nothing compared to what we saw last night!  Ringling Bros is definitely "The GREATEST Show on Earth!"
