Check out the NEW Zeepo Strapless Sleep Mask Review & Giveaway on Mom Loves 2 Read

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Sleep masks are one of the best things you can use to help you sleep in almost any situation.  As a person who needs darkness to be comfortable enough to fall asleep, I personally have had trouble getting enough sleep when on trips unless I find a way to block out light from hotel windows and doors.

I have even hung bath towels, coats and even clothing from the sides of doors and used hair clips and shoes to try to block out light from hotel curtains.  Often that does not work and

I have trouble getting to sleep.

I found an opportunity to try out a Zeepo strapless sleep mask - here is some information that tells more about it from the Dream Essentials website:

The sleep mask that gently binds to your face with FDA-approved,
double-sided, adhesive strips which are medical grade hypo-allergenic
and latex free. Includes 2 sheets of disposable adhesive (36 strips)
enough for 18 nights of sleep.

  • Light-weight, ergonomic design

  • 100% light blocking for effective sleep and relaxation

  • Ultra comfortable using natural cotton for sensitive facial skin

Fabric

The interior and exterior of the mask are both made of 100% cotton lined with Tencel®, a soft, anti-bacterial fabric.

Mask Fastener

Mask secures to the face with revolutionary, hypoallergenic adhesive strips.

Care

Hand wash in cool water.

Lay flat to dry.

This mask also came with Dream Essence Sleep Serum-

It is simple and easy to use - just dab a small amount on your temples,
behind your ears and one spot on the back of your neck and let the
essential oils do their magic.  The aroma and your bodies absorption of
the essentials oil mix is designed to relax you and help you fall into a
deep sleep.  Well, in theory anyway - I personally did not find the Sleep Serum to help me - but I often have trouble getting to sleep no matter what I do, even when taking prescription sleep medication so don't take just my word for it.

I do like this sleep mask - although I do not need to use it for my nightly rest as my room is usually plenty dark - and one of the nights I wore it I woke to go to the bathroom, forgetting it was on and in my sleep addled state got slighlty concerned that I could not see - lol

I do think it will be greatly beneficial on our upcoming family trips.  I can't wait to use it in hotel rooms to help me get to sleep - even when the light around the doors and windows can not be blocked enough - this mask does block out all light!  And, the adhesive strips stick well, and I thankfully did not have any adverse reaction to the adhesive as I have to some bandage adhesives.

I personally cut the adhesive strips in half to make them last longer and had no problem with them being smaller - I was able to use 4 small half strips to keep the mask on my face - though the longer strips would be more secure for most people.

Although the mask only comes with 36 adhesive strips - more can be purchased on the website for a small cost - which I personally find to be pretty reasonable - as they are 50% off right now!

Christmas Celebrations Continue with a $300 Amazon Giveaway on Mom Loves 2 Read

Christmas 2013 was a wonderful time for family and friends to gather together, sharing food, love, conversation and just enjoying being together in one place.  For our family, Christmas Celebration begins with the Advent Services each Sunday leading up to Christmas.  Seeing the lighting of the Advent Candles at church gets my kids excited about lighting them in our own home each Sunday.

They learn more about the events leading up to Christ's birth and the reasons why we Celebrate each year.  Although we love the beautifully decorated trees, seeing the lights on  many houses around town and finding lots of wrapped presents under the tree on Christmas Morning, we try to remember and Celebrate the Reason for Christmas each year with special traditions.

My children's favorite

tradition is opening gifts on Christmas Morning of course - lol.  But, before all that -

we have our own tradition of putting up the artificial Christmas Tree (sorry, allergic to real ones) and decorating it after Thanksgiving.  Each child has his or her own box full of personal ornaments to hang on the tree.  Some were made at school or church - a few were made at home as fun craft projects - and some were given each year as gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day to add to each child's precious collection.

This Christmas Eve - each of my children received another new ornament to hang on the Tree . . .

My girls both love the movie "BRAVE" so I was excited when I finally found Merida ornaments for them this year.

And my son loves to collect "STAR WARS" ornaments, and I was happy to
finally find a Yoda ornament for him to add to his collection.

Another fun tradition each year for our family is Celebrating Jesus' Birthday.  My Children remind me each and every year that we have to make a cake for Jesus' Birthday Party - we usually celebrate Jesus' Birthday either Christmas Eve at dinner or after lunch on Christmas Day with a birthday cake - yes, with candles - we sing Happy Birthday and the kids blow out the Candles.  There are usually gifts for Christ under the Tree each year and the kiddos will make cards and hearts to put inside them for Jesus.

I love how my children enjoy each of our family traditions and how excited they get when we celebrate each year.

For next year, I may have to find a new Christmas Tree as ours is held together in a few spots with duck tape - lol.  And, as a prelit tree - one area near the top has never lit up so our next tree will not be a prelit!  I am looking at www.kingofchristmas.com/ since they have a great SALE going on right now to see if they have any trees that might fit in my home - I really like the look of the Scarlet Fir - it looks just like a real tree!

King of Christmas has several artificial trees that look just like the real ones - and to showcase this great sale, they are sponsoring a nice After Christmas Giveaway!  Such a nice thing to do - check out the current sale at King of Christmas, then come back and enter the giveaway they have kindly sponsored.

The Prize is a $300 Amazon.com Giftcode and is open World Wide.

The Giveaway will run from Saturday 1/4 through Sunday 1/12 midnight MST

Entries will be validated before winner is chosen.  Entries are optional but must be completed honestly in order to win.  Must be 18 or older to enter/win.

New adorable and stylish case for iPad Mini ~ Review & Giveaway on Mom Loves 2 Read

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Up for review today is the iPad Mini Case in paisley from JAVOedge.com

This particular case comes in a variety of designs including an adorable dachshund one that dog lovers will pant for (bad pun I know, but I could not resist!)

This iPad Mini case is also compatible with the iPad Mini with Retina.  JAVOedge also carries cases for iPads, Kindles, Nooks, Samsung devices, Google Nexus, iPhones and many more . . . with a variety of types and styles of cases and accessories for these and other devices.

My particular iPad Mini case in paisley is a fun and flirty print that I personally love.  I think it looks more like a handbag than and iPad case and love the vibrant colors in the design and quality of the case itself.

This case can be cleaned easily with a damp cloth, can be used in a variety of positions - propped up horizontal is best - and has grooves built in to adjust the screen angle.

It also has a magnetic closure though this does not stay put very well - I think because my case is still fairly new and stiff and has not completely worked out the stiffness - the magnets do not quite meet unless extra attention and a bit of pressure is applied when closing.

The wrist strap is handy for carrying my iPad mini around the house - though I have only done that one time just to test it out - it can also be used as a fun keychain (my personal idea).

Check out more great cases and accessories at JAVOedge.com.

Enter below for a chance to WIN an iPad Mini case like mine - open to US residents 18 or older.

French for Kids language immersion DVD Review on Mom Loves 2 Read

French For Kids DVD Review:

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Fritzi’s in the house!  But où est Fritzi?

Finding the mischievous mouse Fritzi is just part of the fun in this
lively language learning program from Whistlefritz, the award-winning
producers of the Spanish for Kids series of DVDs and CDs.

This
French immersion DVD welcomes you to Fritzi’s house, where up or down,
inside or out, there is lots to learn and plenty to do.  Explore every
area of Fritzi’s house, from la chambre (the bedroom) and la salle de bain (the bathroom) to le salon (the living room) and la cuisine
(the kitchen).  An engaging interactive

format teaches children basic
greetings, positional words, food, daily activities, numbers, and more.

But that’s not all! Nous allons chanter et danser!  (We’re going to sing and dance!)  This DVD will have children on their feet dancing along to upbeat rhythms.  Dedans et Dehors is
an engaging blend of colorful backgrounds, charming animation and
live-action that kids will want to revisit again and again.

This DVD
includes an easy-to-use translation guide for parents and teachers, who
are first time learners of French, as well as French subtitles.
Designed for children ages 2-7, Dedans et Dehors is fun for all ages!

My Review:

Knowing how beneficial it is to children’s brain development when
they learn a second language, I have made sure that each time I am offered a chance to review materials that help young children learn other languages, I jump at the chance.  So far, we have reviewed a Japanese language immersion DVD and Spanish immersion DVD both with amazing success.  Both are still loved by myself and my children - especially my youngest who watches at least one of them everyday.

Now, being introduced to a French immersion DVD by a company I have not yet reviewed for - I was excited to see how my youngest would react and if she would love it as much as the other language learning DVDs we have previously tried.

Of course she loves it.  The animations are adorable, the DVD is easy to follow especially with the english subtitles during the playing of the DVD - very helpful as we do not speak any French.

She loves the little mouse Fritzi, and as a Mom watching along - I can say that the DVD is fun and exciting but more geared to younger children - my 9 year old quickly lost interest and thought it was "too kiddish" for her.  I think my younger nieces - ages 3 and almost 2 - would enjoy watching this DVD along with my 5 year old.

My personal favorite part of this DVD was the charades - it was fun to guess along with my daughter.  We both have learned a few new words and as the repetition of the words in the DVD and repeatedly playing the DVD I expect we will retain many more after we have had more time to watch and learn.

French for Kids: Dedans et Dehors can be found on the website as well as other online retailers.

Mom Needs Advice ~ How to best plan for first trip to Disney - shhhh don't tell the kids!

I am planning our first trip to Disney World for this April during Spring Break from school - and I am already overwhelmed.  I have already figured out how to save big on our hotel (off-site but nearby) - and have planned to visit possibly 3 days of our stay at Disney - but alternate a Disney World day with a day in between for rest or going to the beach/pool so not to overwhelm and tire out too quickly.

Now, I am trying to find

deals, coupons and ways to save on tickets, food and anything I can.  I am also looking for tips on the best way to plan each of our potential 3 days so that we are organized yet can have the maximum amount of fun without being rushed or too stressed.

I'm also searching high, low and everywhere in between for good advice on what to pack, and take for 3 kids of different ages and how to make sure each of them get a chance to do what they like and not have huge wait times with the other 1 or 2 while the other(s) is on a ride.

Also, which rides, meals or events are the best possible Can Not Miss for each child???

With 3 kids and only 2 adults it will be a bit of a challenge - any suggestions would be great!

***My oldest ~ Josh is 12 and will likely want to do all the thrill rides and adventure type stuff.

***In the Middle is Allison - age 9 1/2 - she likes some thrills but is a more of a middle road - a little thrill and a lot of princess, fantasy, non-scary fun too.

***Youngest is Lydia - will be 6 in March.  She thinks she would like thrills until time to go, then gets scared.  She will definitely be on the younger rides and mostly princess, character type stuff.

So, how to plan for those three (and still have Mom and Dad fun too) and not break the bank or my back?

I'd love any advice, tips, tricks, coupons! discounts - and stories of your visits to Disney - what works, what doesn't?

What TO DO, what to avoid and how to survive the planning stage so we can all have fun - lol

Not quite to this point and hoping to avoid it if possible - rofl

Disclosure: I have never been to Disney World or any large Theme Park (unless you count Six Flags with no kids - lol) so this is a new and a bit daunting experience for me - I am an avid planner and always try to plan for the unexpected as well as hopefully expected.  Any help and advice is always greatly appreciated and will be taken into consideration!  :)

Mom Rings in the New 2014 with a To Do Task List - What is your 2014 going to bring?

Ok it is the very first day of a brand New Year - and what am I doing?  Searching the internet to help me decide what my "New Year's Resolutions" will be and how I can actually achieve them.  After finding that I have been online for nearly 3 hours, I've finally come to the realization that making "resolutions" is the wrong way for me to start my New Year (plus getting off the computer might be a good place to start as well - lol)

So, starting now, I am working on a more reasonable "New Year's Task List" that I will check off as I accomplish each little Step of Each Task - making smaller goals that are easier to achieve and give a sense of accomplishment and purpose to start out this 2014!

Task #1 - Take Care of My Needs

As a Stay At Home Mom in a One income Family - I usually ignore my personal wants and sometimes even my needs in order to take
care of

my family first.  My health, self esteem, physical appearance and
confidence have suffered because of this.  What I want and NEED to do is focus on ME from time to time and make myself a priority in 2014 - because as I have heard over and over "IF MOM ISN'T HAPPY - NOBODY'S HAPPY"

So with that in mind, here is my step by step plan:

  • Get dressed every morning-no more PJ’s all day

  • Shower everyday - (expecially after exercising)

  • Do my hair and makeup before leaving the house - even if only to go to the grocery store

  • Add things I want and need to a wishlist and make sure hubby has access to it!

  • Drink More Water (see task #2)

  • Exercise for my Health (see task #3)

  • Make sure to remind myself of at least 5 positive things about myself each day

Task #2: Drink More Water

I know this is a reasonable goal for me because how hard can it be to keep a nice cold glasstic bottle full of ice water handy. And as long as it is ice cold, I have no problem drinking it.

The hardest part for me will be drinking less soda and more water - my goal is to get up to 80 oz of water each day.

Here is my step by step plan to help get the final Task Completed

  • Start with 2 full Glasstic bottles per day (32 oz total)

  • by the middle of Feb add a third bottle per day (or bottled water from fridge) - 48oz total

  • By end of March 4 bottles per day - 60oz total

  • By end of April 5 bottles per day - 72 oz total

  • By end of June  - 6 bottles per day - or min 80oz/day

Task #3 - Excercise 45 mins at least 4 days a week

Ok,
I know excercise is one of the top New Year's Resolutions for most
people, but for me it is a health issue so I have to do this.  For
myself, for my kids, for my well being - I have to get healthy - not
"fit" not "in shape" but healthy.

The hardest part for me
will be well, making myself do it.  I have a treadmill in the basement -
but rarely use it.  I have several excercise Wii Fit 'games' but don't
make myself do them.  I even purchased Zumba but after trying it ended
up with knee and back pain for three days - and that was just the
training part - lol

I'm really out of shape and for my age it is
not good.  I should be and want to be more active with my kids - so for
my own good - I am Going to Excercise  - whether I like it or not! ;)

I am going to keep a calendar in the Kitchen where everyone can see it and help keep mom on track . . .

Here is my step by step plan for this Task:

  • Start with walking on the Treadmill for 10 minutes 3 mornings a week.

  • Add a 5 to 10 min Pilates Wii Fit routine to 2 of those mornings each week.

  • By end of February - be up to 10 min of Pilates plus 15 mins of treadmill 3 days a week

  • By end of March - add another day - exercise 4 days a week

  • By end of April  - 15 - 20 mins Pilates plus 20 mins on Treadmill 4 mornings a week

  • By
end of June  - 20 - 30 min Pliates or beginner Zumba plus 20 to 30 min
Treadmill 4 days a week - AND hopefully lose at least 5 pounds - lol

Task #4 - Make home and family a priority.

My family and home are my first responsibility, but as I grown in blogging and get more and more reviews, I

tend to let home and quality family time slide in order to meet blogging deadlines.

My step by step plan to fix this priority issue is:

  • Do a better job of keeping the house clean

  • Make a weekly "homework" list of house cleaning that HAS to be done then Do it!

  • Be consistent in making mornings for House work and afternoons for blogging and computer time.

  • Utilize my blogging calendar to add in reading/reviewing time, housework time, kids' activities and free time spaces so they are always in front of me!

  • Create and stick to a budget that works for us

  • Family Game Night Twice a Month on Sunday Afternoons

  • DATE NIGHT at least once a month, whether hubby likes it or not

Task #5 - Grow My Blog

As blogging is growing, and social media
grows with it - I find that as many people as I have "following" my blog
- I have a considerably smaller amount that actually visit, read and
comment.  I plan to work more on keeping faithful readers as well as
growing my numbers of followers to hopefully continue to be able to get
better and better books and products to share with everyone.

For this to work, here is my plan:

  • Keep myself organized so I always post on time if not early.

  • Run Special Events/Rewards just for those readers who regularly visit

  • Consider finding another Mom to help with some of the reviews

  • Focus 1 afternoon per week just on social media interaction

  • Focus at least 1 hour a week on social media growth

  • Continue to learn all I can to make this blog the best it can be

I think this is a good start for my 2014  -  What are some of your
New Year’s Resolutions or what is on your 2014 To Do List?

Blogger Tutorial - How to create a blog button with grab code - simple step by step instructions for blogger blogs.

I have had a few blogger friends recently ask me how they can create a blog button.

I have previously posted a step by step guide and decided it was time to repost for those who would like to make their own "button with grab code."

Here is what I have found to be the easiest way to make a Blog Button and Grab My Button Code for it. This is for blogger.

#1) Choose a photo, picture or logo that you have created or someone has created for you that represents your website or blog.

#2) Upload that photo to a website like Photobucket.com

#3) Copy the "direct link" HTML code from the button on the website

#4) To put a "grab our button" on your blog:

~ copy the following html code.:

[div align="center"] [a
href="http://YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com" target="_blank"][img
alt="YOURBLOGNAME"
src="http://YOURPICTURE.jpg"/][/a][/div] [div align="center"] [form][textarea
rows="6" cols="20"][a href="http://YOURBLOG.blogspot.com"
target="_blank"][img alt="YOURBLOGNAME"
src="http://YOURPICTURE.jpg"/][/a][/textarea][/form][/div]

~ open your blogger account and choose "layout"

~ click on "add a gadget"

~ choose "html" and wait for the blank box to load

~ paste the code you copied here into the blank box

~ change all of the "["  for these "(" and  "]" into these ")"   (I had to change them so you could see the code here on the blog post)

~ change the areas in RED to your info ~ add YOUR blog URL, your blog's NAME, Your photo's html link (direct link code from photobucket or similar site)

~ now click SAVE

Your new button with code should look something like this:

Mom Loves 2 Read

Enjoy your new button!
