Finding Noah! Check it out in Theater's Oct. 8 #review

For over 2,000 years, man has been searching for the final resting place of
Noah's Ark.  Though there have been many attempts, few have been able to fully
explore the one place specifically noted in the Bible: Mount Ararat.  Located in
Eastern Turkey, Agri Dagh or "The Painful Mountain" is the tallest mountain in
the region and lies in the very center of a centuries old, geo-politically
unstable hot spot.  With constant threats of deadly rock slides, hidden
crevasses, and glacial ice falls, the Kurdish Rebel held mountain poses great
risk to any explorer, let alone those performing a thorough scientific
investigation.

Join director/producer Brent Baum and the FINDING NOAH film crew as
they follow an expedition of intrepid explorers on a perilous trek up to Mt.
Ararat's desolate summit.  There, using state of the art technology and
real-time satellite imagery, this team of archeologists, scientists and
professional mountaineers will begin a grid work of exploration unlike any
before, hoping to finally resolve the age-old question:  did Noah and his Ark
actually exist?

Shot in never-before filmed locations in the harshest of conditions, this
unprecedented feature-length documentary shows just how far men are willing to
go to discover the truth.  Narrated by Academy Award nominee Gary Sinise,
FINDING NOAH is more than a quest for answers, it is a testament of the
human spirit, where belief and the need for exploration transcend risk and
limitation.

Genre: Documentary

Rating: NR

Runtime: 116 minutes

Release Date (ONE NIGHT ONLY): October 8

Review:

If you like documentaries on Biblical themes or have been curious about the questions surrounding Noah and his Ark, then this would be an interesting film for you to view.  I personally am not a big fan of documentaries but found myself engaged by the technology used to search Mt Ararat for Noah's Ark.  It was not would I would call "fun" but more of an intriguing film to watch.  Find out more online at: http://www.findingnoah.com/

Kirk Cameron inspires viewers with the hope-filled journey in Unstoppable - DVD Review & Giveaway

Release Date: January 28, 2014

Run Time: 65 minutes

Dove Approved ages 12+

Suggested Retail Price: $14.99

Inspired by the death of Cameron’s close friend who
succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring
and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising
question in faith: “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and
suffering?”

Going back to the beginning—literally—Kirk investigates the
origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities.
UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that
pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their

personal views on
faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

In theaters
for only two weeknights (Sept 24th and Oct 3th, 2013), UNSTOPPABLE: A Live
Event with Kirk Cameron
sold a staggering 260,000 tickets
and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million dollars. In just two nights
this independent project sent a loud message – audiences want thought-provoking
and meaningful entertainment.

Kirk Cameron is best known for his memorable role as
“Mike Seaver,” a cultural icon of the 80's, with his mullet hairstyle, cool
glasses, and wisecracking comebacks. More recently he enjoyed much success with
the No. 1 grossing inspirational film of 2008, Fireproof, and his recent
documentary, Monumental. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, were on-screen
sweethearts during their Growing Pains years and are the founders of Camp
Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their families are
provided an all-expense paid retreat (
www.CampFirefly.com). Together, Kirk and Chelsea live in California with
their six children.

My Review:

This is not a "movie" for the family, rather a study of Faith and how Difficulties, Pain and Suffering can lead to a deeper and more steadfast Faith in God.  Kirk Cameron tells personal stories of how he viewed the suffering and death of a close friend through the eyes of Faith, and how it had brought him to a closer relationship with God.  "Unstoppable" is a DVD worth watching with an open mind and heart.

Coming Home for Christmas DVD family movie & Norman Rockwell Print - Review and GIVEAWAY ~ Holiday Gift Guide 2013

About the Movie:

Sisters Kate and Melanie haven't spoken to each other in years, since a hurtful scene at Melanie's wedding. Their parents, Wendy and Al, have let the pain of their daughters' absence drive a wedge between them, and their tensions have led to a separation.

Kate is determined to reunite the entire family for Christmas, and has the perfect spot . . . their old family home.  The only problem is there's someone else living there now.

"Home is Where the Heart Is"

Watch the Trailer:

My Review:

This is a TV special turned DVD type movie.  It is a heartwarming story of how a family can fall apart with misunderstandings, stress and hurt feelings.  After years of family strife, one young woman decides that she has had enough and her family needs to be together - for Christmas - in their old family  home.  Unfortunately that home is currently occupied by a handsome, single guy - Mike.  As Kate explains to Mike how she plans to get her family back together using their, uh . . . his house, the two start to get to know one another and sparks fly.

This movie is one that is safe and fun for the entire family to watch together.  My children enjoyed many parts of it and my husband and I had the opportunity to explain to them more about the importance of family, communication, forgiveness and love.  It is a wonderful Holiday DVD that will remain a new part of our Holiday Family Together Times.

This DVD also includes a limited edition Normal Rockwell Print - the perfect size to hang up with all the Christmas Cards!

Does this sound like a movie you and your family might enjoy?  Then feel free to enter below for a chance to WIN a copy right here on Mom Loves 2 Read.  Open to US/Canada - must be 18 or older to enter/win.

Standing Up! Autographed DVD GIVEAWAY ~ A heartwarming story of courage and anti-bullying

Based on one of the most beloved Young Adult novels of all time and directed by the acclaimed D.J. Caruso, Standing Up
follows two kids who get bullied by a vicious summer camp prank. Left
together on an island, their adventure begins once they decide not to be
victims and instead they Stand Up!

Standing Up
is an adorable and heart-warming gem of a movie with an important
anti-bullying message that’s suitable for the whole family! Get the DVD
August 20!

What can be done to help the bullied “stand up” for themselves?

One of the best things we can do to understand the problem and discuss solutions is to be inspired. The movie “Standing Up” is THAT inspiration.

I personally intend to watch this movie with my children as soon as I can.  My son has been a victim of bullying in school for the past several years, and although I can try my best to help him find ways to deal with it, bullying still hurts.  I also was bullied as a child, and can understand the frustration, hurt and sometimes anger that can result from that type of treatment by a child's peers - please check out this movie and blog app.
