My Review:

Although my dog Daisy is not an older dog, she does occasionally have aches and pains from hunting birds in the Fall and Spring.  I thought I'd have her try out the Achy Paws™ Pet Mat to see how she reacted to it.  She normally loves to have a blanket on her when she is resting or sleeping, so I figured it would be similar.

At first she refused to lay on it, except when I gave her a treat.  But I finally was able to get a photo of her laying on it.  She does occasionally lay on it but only if it is on top of one of her beds.  I don't know whether she likes it or not, but she doesn't seem to mind it anymore.



I lay on it myself to see if I could notice a difference - and did find that it seems to make my skin warmer wherever it is in contact.



I do think this would be a great warming Mat for older animals that suffer from arthritis or joint pain.  It would ease their pain and help them rest.  For now, we just use it as needed for when Daisy is sore from hunting.  Or for times like in this photo where she just wants some snuggle time with her blankie - LOL

Daisy is a 7 year old German Shorthair Pointer - Chocolate with Chocolate Speckled Coloring.  She is high energy, loves to run and point and chase rabbits, squirrels and birds in the backyard or Dog Park.  Her favorite activities are running and playing chase and fetch with the kids, taking walks with "Dad", and going Hunting with "Dad" and "brother" for pheasants!

Review:

For this review I was sent a package of Minties Treats and a package of Minties Fresh for my German Shorthair Pointer - Daisy, to try.  She loves the Minties Treats and her mouth/teeth seem to be a bit cleaner than they were previously since she has started eating them!  She loves them just as much as any other treat she has had, and gobbles it up quickly! 

The Minties Fresh she did not like at first.  She actually gave me a look - you know the one - head slightly cocked to the side - sad, questioning eyes - seeming to think "what am I supposed to do with that"

After the first one or two of them, she likes them better now, but they are still not her favorites.  I still give them to her because they seem to help her breath stay less offensive for a longer period of time (longest I checked was an hour!)



A couple of things I really LOVE about giving my furry family member Minties Treats from Vet IQ. First

they are Made in the USA!  Can't beat something healthy for your furry loved one, made right here at home!  Second, there are no
artificial flavors or animal by-products in these treats. Minties bones

Love your dog, but not the mess in your house?

If you’ve ever owned a puppy (or currently have one) you know the problem: peeing or marking in the house! While most dogs can be successfully house trained within time, others are...well... a different story. Whether your dog is simply stubborn, or if there are medical issues leading to incontinence, belly bands provide a great solution. What is a belly band? It’s a cloth belt that wraps around your dog, and it holds a disposable pad inside to absorb the liquid.

While they’ve been available at pet stores for a while, I highly recommend getting them custom made for your dog. At the Purple Puppy, you can send in your dog’s measurements, and they even let you choose the fabric. What differentiates these hand made bands from store bought ones is the fit. You want the fabric to snugly wrap  around your dog, avoiding slips and leakage, yet still be comfortable for your pet to wear. For extra security, The Purple Puppy has elastics sown into the sides of all their bands, securing a far better fit than most other brands.

We have successfully used these at Evo and Eli’s Love Box, an animal sanctuary I volunteer for. So your cat/dog has allergies?

                                       Product Review: Vetri-Science Derma-Strength, 120 Tablets

Yes, it’s a product review! And no, I did not even get a free sample but spent my own money, and will continue to do so!

If your cat or dog is suffering from allergies, this can provide some serious relief. I volunteer for Evo and Eli’s Love Box, an animal sanctuary in Pennsylvania. We received a call from the

animal shelter about a dachshund in need. When Riley joined our sanctuary, he was suffering from dreadful skin allergies. This poor doggie was scratching his back and biting his paws constantly. His foster mom took him to the vet's, and medications were prescribed, but these did little to alleviate the symptoms.

In sheer desperation I searched on Amazon for some help. I simply typed in ‘allergies’ into the pet product search and-voila!- there was my answer: Vetri-Science Derma-Strength, a daily capsule you administer with their food (or grind it to powder and mix it in if your pet is the I-refuse-all-meds-type!). A quick read through the customer feedback section showed: Riley wasn’t the only pet out there on expensive, inefficient vet meds! And these over-the-counter tablets had actually worked for at least one happy customer whose cat already had the pus coming through her skin! This was definitely worth a try!

I ordered the tablets for Riley, and am happy to say that after only two weeks we saw results. No more itching, biting, and driving everyone around him crazy! The tablets worked, and are a cost effective method to boot! 120 tablets for around $32 last twenty-pound Riley four months. 

These days Riley is one happy doggie! Oh, and might I add, he is still taking applications for his forever home!

My Mommy Moment of the Week! 

My Daughter Alli was "STAR of the Week" at school this past week.  And one of the things that the STAR gets to do is have a family member (parent) come and tell the class about his or her "Career" or "Hobby" and she chose me!  As my "Career/Hobby" show and tell - she wanted me to tell her classmates about my blog! 

I know, I couldn't believe it either - she wanted me to show them some of the free books and products I have received to review, and tell them all about my blogging - she even gave them all one of my business cards - lol

What were their favorite things you ask?  Great question!

Over half of the class - boys and girls - LOVED the Budsies!  Yes, every single one of them wanted to know how they could get their very own Budsie.  I explained about the process and that if their parents went to my blog - they could find a link with a $5 off Coupon Code to use, to create their very own Custom Budsie - they asked question after question!  It was very exciting!

The next day I went back for another round of Show and Tell, and this time I brought the class' second favorite thing . . . Daisy!

 Most kids love having a Pet come to school to visit - and this time was no different.  Again some amazingly insightful and thoughtful questions from the 3rd graders, and a few even were picked to give Daisy some treats and watch  her do some of her tricks.  

My daughter was so excited to have me visit two days in a row.  And can't wait to have me back again sometime!  I'm such a happy Mommy - as I was leaving with Daisy, she gave me a big hug and told me "You are the Best Mom!  I Love you!" - Awww, my Mommy heart just melted!

My Review:

This ebook has basic instructions for how to train your dog to the main and most important commands that will help you have a well-behaved pet.  I have already used many of these techniques with our dog Daisy, but there is one main behavior that we are currently working on, and this book has given me some great tips on how to correct this mis-behavior.  She likes to jump up on visitors when they come in the door.  This is a behavior we have tried to correct without success up until now.  Though she has not completely stopped, with a few basic tips from this ebook, she responds more quickly to the command to get "down" and when ignored does not repeat the behavior.  She is improving!

I like how easy this ebook is to understand and how it gives more than one way to train or correct your dog.  I like the FAQ section and the explanations of different training methods, as not every person or every dog will prefer only one technique.  It is a great tool to have on hand for any pet owner!

FouFou Pet's Fou-Stick is great for helping heal small injuries to those precious paws.  My family has a German Shorthair Pointer - Daisy.  She hunts with my husband and son for Pheasants.  Often she comes home with small cuts and injuries to her ears and paws from the rough weeds and bushes that she can't seem to keep her nose and paws out of.  I have used the Fou-Stick now three times on her injuries and though I can't tell you if it helps heal them quicker or not, I feel better knowing that I am doing something to help her feel better.  She does like to lick it and since it is made from natural ingredients I'm not concerned about that.



Fou-Stick is made to protect pet's paws from harsh winter weather, salt and hot pavements.  It is made with

all natural ingredients and is safe for pets like my Daisy even when she licks it off.

I love the small travel-sized tube.  It is perfect to put in Daisy's emergency kit for when she is out hunting and also to keep in her supply box in the house for when she is at home.
