More Than Alive and loving it ~ Review and GIVEAWAY on Mom Loves 2 Read

What would you do with a gluten-free baking kit? Are you into wholesome, healthy alternatives to the store bought white flour, and baking products?  Here is one solution ~ More Than Alive carries Gluten-Free baking supplies, spices, nuts, seeds, cute clothing and hair items and even great books on being healthy and child development!

For this review, I was sent a box full of wonderful baking supplies to try.  I received the Gluten-Free items listed below -
Almond Flour
Baking Powder
Raw Cacao Powder
Organic Cinnamon Powder
Organic Coconut Flour
Organic Rapadura Sugar

Now, not being overly familiar with Gluten-Free recipes, I went to the More Than Alive Blog to search for recipes.  I found several that I thought my family would enjoy.

I started in the post called "Chocolate is good for you"  (of course it is!) and decided to try these two recipes as my Gluten-Free trial run.

Joy's Flourless Brownies

Joy's Almond Balls

Though I did not get any pictures of my flourless brownies, they did turn out pretty good.  Much better than I would have thought since they don't have any flour in them at all.

As I looked over the recipe, I realized I did not have any coconut oil and had never heard of Almond Butter - so I went to the store to see what I could find.  Unfortunately I thought they both were a bit pricy for my budget so I decided to tweak the recipe to suit my personal tastes and got Nutella instead of Almond butter, and just used Canola Oil which I use regularly in place of Coconut Oil.  Here is what I ended up with.

That adorable little hand belongs to my youngest!  She is a great helper!

That is honey she is adding

Rolling in the Coconut!

Almost Done!

I put them in the refrigerator for about an hour- they were quite yummy and chocolatey!

This was a fun and tasty experiment with making healthier treats using gluten-free and organic ingredients.

One I plan to repeat again very soon.
