Series: Won't Let Go #1
Release date: December 14th 2013
Publisher: Crescent Moon Press Inc.
Purchase: Amazon
Synopsis via Goodreads:
Seventeen-year-old
Alexia Stone never wanted to move cross country. And she certainly
never wanted to share her new bedroom with an amnesiac ghost boy
desperate for her help.
But
after setting aside the assumption she’s gone crazy, Alexia engages in
the impossible—she agrees to help the ghost discover who he was and what
happened to him. Convinced this mystery is what’s keeping the phantom
in the world of the living, Alexia puts her heart on the line to find
out what his unfinished business might be.
Ultimately,
Alexia must decide what’s more important to her—keeping her phantom
boyfriend or helping him finally find peace in death. What she didn’t
plan on was not having a choice. One of them must move on, but what if
neither wants to let go?
My Review:
First I will say that this book should not be read by younger readers. I would recommend for Young Adults ages 16 and up due to content and curse words. This novel was not quite what I was expecting when I agreed to review it. Though I believe many will enjoy the unique story by author Avery Olive.
Pretty well, written, but in some places the story did not flow as well as it could have.
Unique idea, romance with an Amnesiac Ghost who isn't in real life what he seems in the ghostly world.
A mystery that nearly costs the main character, "Alexia" her life and one situation after another thrown at the reader that at times can be a bit confusing.
Some cursing that I feel could have been left out and the story would have still had the same impact.
An ending that is not easy to predict, and was very dramatic and emotional - definitely not a light read. One the reader needs to read more than once to be able to "catch" all the action.
Overall, not a bad story - I would have preferred the book to be "clean" of course, but for those who don't mind a few "choice words" thrown in occasionally there are just a few throughout the story - I've read worse. An interesting YA paranormal mystery romance.
